Next, the Basilica di Santa Croce. This is the biggest Franciscan church in the world. It is in a complex that includes what was once a convent and has a cloister and gardens to visit. The church is decorated with amazing frescos including some by Giotto. It is also the final resting place of some very famous italians, including Marconi, Machiavelli, Dante, Rossini, and Galileo. Certainly worth the visit, and not the crowds to contend with.
