Spring flowers

the perfume of the white lilac is gorgeous

Usually, it’s May before we see so many flowers, but spring has arrived with a bang this year. There's yellow fields of canola and blossoming trees in the countryside. We've seen lots of lambs and calves in the fields and there's even a herd of miniature goats frolicking in their field outside of Bergerac.

cherry blossom

We had very few cherries last year, so we hope for a better crop this time.

maybe we need to prune this before next year

The purple and white lilacs have appeared, the wisteria on the wall is deepening from white to mauve each day and the leaves  on the fig and the big tree that we had pruned recently are multiplying as we watch.

Azaleas are looking lush, and our new climbing roses on the old stone wall are already budding.

fresh strawberries soon ?

After such a grey winter, it’s a joy to sit in the garden in the sunshine, throwing the ball for Lily and listening to the birdsong.

The first vide grenier and flower market of the year is in our street in Port Ste Foy today. We've noticed an  increased number of motorhomes on local roads , and there have been more light aircraft flying up to the airstrip  on the plateau behind us, all sure signs that the tourist season is near.

Whether it's spring or autumn wherever you are, we hope you are enjoying it too.
